WordCrafter09: 2016

A Note About This Blog

This is a blog that (as will be clear to anyone who sees it) I started awhile back under the pen-/user-name of "WordCrafter 09". My original plan was to associate it with an account I set up on HubPages, separate from the account I have there under a pen-name (Lisa H. Warren/Lisa H.W). I had some other plans for the blog too, but I didn't do a lot on it. In any case, I've decided to resurrect it (largely because I'm transitioning away from the old pen-name).

Since deciding to resurrect it and make it "the intersection of two different names"; and since at some point I'll de-emphasize it (just as I'm de-emphasing the pen-name, itself), I thought a good use for this blog might be to post some "raw-material type stuff" for later use, reference, and/or polishing up.

Just A Little "Shop Talk" (Sort Of)

Getting from zero-to-a-zillion-different-blogs (over about ten years' time) has meant starting any number of author-focused and/or "sister-site type of thing" blogs/sites, and that has involved either similar blog titles or else just my not wanting to be bothered thinking up a title for a site/page that isn't theme-focused. It hasn't helped that I've also confused myself (sometimes, anyway) by giving some pages a matching appearance to a "sister page", only to later decide to do something different with the appearance.

In the sidebar on this page there a few similar-seeming (maybe even actually very similar). I may delete some or may add some. I don't imagine that too many people will be looking at this page or those links. Even so, I may as well mention that if one is looking for where my most current attention is focused go the "ME Whelan Online Writing And Notes" one. The others do have a mix of stuff on them, but they aren't well organized (and I'm not sure they ever will be even if I don't delete them).

My main purpose for this blog these days is so that I have a place TO reorganize, so I can't worry about how this one is presented. At some point I may clean this one up and return to its original purpose, which was to be linked to my "WordCrafter09" HubPages material.

A Note From Awhile Back - That's Still Pretty Much Applies

When I had trouble finding full-time work after a complicated divorce, and in an economy that was about as bad it could get, I thought that the bright side to that otherwise dreary scenario was that working from home meant not being involved in the "rat race". That was true enough; and although there are things about the rat race that I've always kind of liked, there are a lot of things that are great about not having to be involved in it on a daily basis.

It's been years, now, since I've been away from the rat race. I've discovered something, though. It turns out that working from home (and especially if any of that work involves being online very much) can be its own kind of rat race.

The difference between the outside rat race and the more hidden kind that can seem to seep into the cozy environment of a home office (and, believe me, it isn't an "office" as much as it is a desk) (besides the commuter traffic factor) is that the rat race involved in working from home can be disguised as "not a rat race" but can still feel like one.

In any case (and ironically, I suppose, in view of the fact that blogs are online activities), this blog is my attempt to get away from all forms of rat races - and just write what I feel like writing.
